"Comunicações" (Communications) is a project, in development, based on the work with the same name by the composer Miguel Azguime and on the Portuguese Discoveries, on the Portuguese relation with the sea and with the world. "Comunicações" is Ana Mandillo's interpretation, or reinterpretation, of her Portuguese heritage, of her personal relationship with the sea and with the city of Lisbon, of language as way of communication. "Comunicações" installations uses pieces of wood brought by the sea and collected in the Portuguese coast.

This project is being developed in the context of a broader project "Sound Plasticity's" which bring out her ever-since deep relationship with music.

 

… Insistentemente reafirmada em toda a produção de Ana Mandillo, esta sensualidade da cor, da forma e dos materiais que sabe tão bem utilizar, encontra na música com a qual se entrelaça um sentido temporal que nos deixa viajar pela sinuosidade do traço, pela profundidade da perspectiva, pela morosidade de um prazer contemplativo que não queremos abandonar, perdidos no tempo, deslumbrados no espaço…

 

Conjugando som e olhar, aproveitando as vibrações física e palpáveis do som, a plasticidade sonora de Ana Mandillo chega-nos carregada de emoção, e revela-nos o lado de lá, a insondável e indizível dimensão de quem tudo quer abarcar.
